Mid West Barber College
Frequently Asked Questions.

Q.  What are the graduation requirements?

To get your Diploma or Certificate, you must complete the Barber Program hours, successfully pass the written and practical examinations and complete the required number of practical procedures.

Q.  Once I finish the program, will I get my license?

To get your license, you must pass an examination by the Kansas State Board of Barbering.  Mid West Barber College graduates have a very high passing rate.  All throughout the course, we help prepare students for the exam.  We also give a "mock board" exam so students know exactly what to expect.

Q.  Tell me about the classes.  What can I expect?

Classes are diversified.  You are not going to be stuck in a classroom all day.  We have lectures, of course, but we also have hands-on demonstrations, guest speakers, videos and practical applications.

Q.  When can I start school?

Mid West Barber College has an open policy and programs are offered continuously.  Classes start on the first Tuesday of every month.  Please consult with the admissions office regarding specific start dates.

Q When do I begin to work on real people?

After the first 30 days of classroom training, you will be working on both patrons and mannequins.

Q.  Is there a minimum age to enroll?

Yes, students must be at least 16 years of age to begin training.

Q.  Do I need to have a high school diploma?

A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required prior to enrollment.

Q.  Will you help me find a job once I get my license?

Mid West Barber College offers Placement Assistance.  While we can't guarantee you a job, we will help you find your first position and assist you to reach your career goals.
