If you're creative, like meeting and working with people, and are interested in Hair-styling trends, you could have a fun, rewarding career as a barber. As a professional barber, you'll be part of one of America's best-loved traditions. The barber shop as an institution in this country; is a place where people come for a clean shave, a great haircut and good conversation. But barbering isn't stuck in the past. Male and female barbers are finding success cutting both men and women's hair. More and more barbers are offering styling and specialty services like cornrows, locs and comb twists in addition to classic cuts. Since 2011, we have provided full-service education to aspiring barbers in Northeastern Kansas.
Complete our 10-month program in as little as(8) months by doing the maximum 8 hour days and reach your goal of becoming a licensed barber. Our school is also open to the public for full barber services, all of which are performed by students under the supervision of our licensed instructors.
Our PROGRAMS
BARBERING - 1200
This program is a 1200 hours [which equals approximately 36 weeks / 10 months full time training] and is designed to prepare the student who graduates the course to pass the State Examination and enter the field as an entry level, licensed Barber. (Program is Financial Aid eligible)
INDUSTRY RELATED: BARBERING - 500
This program is designed for Licensed Cosmetologists to complete a minimum of 500 hours [which equals approximately 20 weeks / Five (5) months of full-time training] and is designed to prepare the student who completes the course to pass the State Examination and enter the field as an entry level, licensed Barber. (Program is Financial Aid eligible not Pell Eligible)

OUR COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Bacteriology, Sterilization, Sanitation and Decontamination: Knowledge and use of measures to promote and protect good health against any harmful germs.
Chemistry: Basic understanding of the chemicals used in our profession.
Disorders and Diseases of the Skin, Scalp, Hair and Nails: Recognition through examination and treatment of these conditions as necessary.
Electricity and Light: The benefits, effects and safety factors of electricity as applied to any barber service.
Facial Treatments: The process used to enhance the beauty and health of the face.
First Aid: The basics of first aid and how it is applied in our industry.
Hair Bleaching: Partial or total removal of pigmented color from the hair with the use of chemicals.
Hair Coloring: The science and art of changing hair color through the use of chemicals.
Hair Cutting and Shaping: This is the foundation of all hair styling and is performed with styling shears, razors and/or clippers.
Hair: One of the most important aspects of our profession! This course is in regards to the individual's appearance and its relation to the styling and continued healthy growth that we can promote.
Hairstyling: The ability to create, using the individual’s hair, a frame for the head and face that compliments their complete look.
Hygiene and Good Grooming: Hygiene concerns both the public and the individual, including healthful living habits. Good grooming refers to the student regarding the individual’s appearance.
Permanent Waving: Care and knowledge of curling hair permanently through the use of chemicals.
Professional Ethics: Deals with the proper conduct of the student in relations to the employer, clients and co-workers.
Scalp and Hair Treatments: Preserving the health and beauty of the scalp and hair.
Shop Management: Key factors used for the successful management and ownership of a shop, such as day-to-day operation, growth and future opportunities, as well as the background studies needed to achieve these goals.
Skin and Scalp: The study of these areas of the head and their structure to treat them effectively, give advice and further enhance their beauty with future treatments to keep them healthy.
State Laws: Understanding of the laws relating to barbers in the State of Kansas.
Visual Poise: Refers to the growing of one's self into an ideal pattern that is beneficial to themselves as well as society.
